Dental Health Week 6-9 August 2018 – Tuesday

Tuesday is all about brushing!

Brushing your teeth is so much more than squirting some paste onto a toothbrush and scrubbing at your teeth.

For the best results you should brush you teeth for 2 minutes twice a day. As with all jobs it is important to have the right equipment. It is up to you if you like a manual or electric toothbrush. The brush should be changed every 3 months or if it is starting to look worn. Here is a case of more is not best, brushing you teeth for longer does not mean they are cleaner. By brushing for too long or scrubbing too hard you run the risk of causing damage to your gums.

Our dentists are here to advise you about the best type of toothbrush for you.

The ADA has put together a useful fact sheet about brushing. There is also a useful video to show you want to do. You are never too old to ask for help. If you are concerned about your brushing technique please ask. Our dentists and hygienists are trained professionals who will treat any question you have with respect and discretion.

Children

Children’s teeth as just as important as adult’s teeth – perhaps more so as they are unable to care for them without help. Our dentists recommend that you start brushing your child’s teeth as soon as they have one. It is important to use an age appropriate toothbrush and toothpaste. It can be tricky at first brushing someone else’s teeth. Our dentists and hygienist are here to help you. If you have any questions about brushing your child’s teeth, or just want to check if you are doing it correctly…ask! We are happy to show you the best technique so you can provide the best oral health care to your child.

So this Dental Health Week 6-9 August 2018 – Tuesday take a moment to fine tune your brushing technique.
