Michelle Bonney

Hygienist Department
Michelle Bonney
Michelle is a Canberran and joined us in January 2026.
Michelle started her dental career via the same path a lot of hygienists do – via dental assisting. Michelle started as a dental assistant in 2006 and did her Cert III in dental assisting at CIT. The exposure to dentistry lead Michelle to wanting to take it further and be part of the treatment side of the team.
She went to Newcastle University but was at the Central Coast campus in Ourimbah for the three years rather than Newcastle.
When she graduated Michelle moved back to Canberra and worked at another practice for 15 years as well as part time roles at another practice for 9 years, 5 years in orthodontics and at Defence’s dental clinic. This has given Michelle a broad exposure to both the role of hygienists and dentists.
Michelle volunteered on the committee for the ACT Branch of the Dental Hygienist’s Association of Australia for 7 years and in 2016 was honoured to be awarded ACT Hygienist of the Year by her peers.
Michelle says she likes doing hygiene because it feels meaningful, satisfying and rewarding to help people achieve something so important as good health.
Outside of work Michelle fosters Labradors, cooks, does DIY and is learning various textile arts/crafts.
