PANDSI Cake Off 2019

The PANDSI Cake Off 2019 event is at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra, Sunday 5th May

This is the third year that Canberra Dental Care is getting behind the PANDSI Cake Off. We are so proud to be part of this event as it raises much needed funds for the PANDSI organisation.

PANDSI is a support and information charity that helps women and families faced with Perinatal (Post or Antenatal) Depression or Anxiety. This is a valuable organisation helping new families adjust to being parents. If you are, or someone you know is, in need of assistance please seek help. There is always someone to talk to about what is going on.

Theme

Each year the theme is represented in cake. The first year was the classic Women’s Weekly cakes.  2017 saw all things Canberra, with Canberra Dental Care supporting the National Art Gallery Pears.  2018 saw all things BIG with Canberra Dental Care supported the Big Pineapple!  This year’s theme is World Cultures in Cake

PANDSI Cake Off is a lot of fun, but this year’s theme also has a serious side.
Many families struggling with perinatal mental health issues experience additional challenges through their cultural background.
This can be as simple (or as complex) as language barriers preventing full understanding of the problems or seeking help for them. Social isolation also compounds problems, with family and friends far away it is easy to feel unsupported and alone.
Sometimes cultural beliefs about parenthood can hamper understanding that help is needed. This can mean that even parents and family members don’t recognise that something is wrong.
The professional team at PANDSI can help with a range of support methods to help people on their pathway to wellness. PANDSI staff use interpreters to ensure the highest level of understanding both ways.

We need your help!

Come along to the event! Cakes will be available to purchase on the day, it is amazing what some people can create with cake and icing.

You can also donate via the GoFundMe account.
Don’t forget to brush your teeth with extra care after eating all that cake!
